Conjugation Tips

1Group 1 (Godan) Verbs

The final う-sound changes depending on the form. For example, for 話す (hanasu):

  • Present: 話します (hanashimasu)
  • て-form: 話して (hanashite)

2Group 2 (Ichidan) Verbs

Remove る and add the appropriate ending. For example, for食べる (taberu):

  • Present: 食べます (tabemasu)
  • て-form: 食べて (tabete)

3Irregular Verbs

These have special patterns. For example, for 来る (kuru):

  • Present: 来ます (kimasu)
  • て-form: 来て (kite)
